The Catholic Women's League became a
National Organization in 1920. One year later, in 1921, St.
Joseph's Catholic Women's League Council was formed. Today, this
Council has over 200 members and contributes to the parish and
community in a variety of ways:
- Ministry to the sick and
shut-ins
- Active in parish ministry
as servers, communion ministers, readers, greeters, adult
servers.
- Contributes to annual
C.W.L. Scholarships to local students
- Arrangement and serving
receptions for funerals in our parish
- Monitor pro-life issues,
Human Rights issues, Social Justice, Family life for possible
action at all levels of government
- Support parish youth
activities, social activities and liturgical celebrations and
events
- Honor our deceased members
with a funeral Honour Guard and yearly Memorial Mass and take part
in November 11 services
- Donate to local charities,
our parish, and to Third World countries
- Take part in ecumenical
events such as World Day of Prayer
- Support our parish in fund
raising events
It is "Through service to
God's People" that the Catholic Women's League carries out its
Mission of calling its members to Holiness...Faith life cannot
remain ouly interior and individualistic...but must result
in ACTS OF
SERVICE as a means
of translating the mission into everyday action. (James
2:14-17)
